Makings of a CEO

As CEO of Mad Flavas, it is important that I set the foundation of the company firmly in the cement of great leadership. With this thought in mind, it is only right that I fit the description and possess such qualities, skills, experience, and talents it takes to hold such position at a level as to promote positive growth. A leader must be influential, the ability to allure people into following you through pure charisma is critical to the position. A leader must also prioritize their duty and responsibilities accordingly as well as resolve to the needs of their employees. According to John Maxwell in his book, Developing the leader within you, Success is the progressive realization of a predetermined goal (Maxwell, 1993) . Prioritizing is the fuel that gets you there. Vision is another critical asset a great leader should have. The ability to foresee where the company needs to go based on market , data and competitors is not a skill easily acquired or possessed by many. Problem solving should be considered the ultimate skill to be possessed by a great leader.  When all else fails, it is on the leader to bring forth the answer to the question, or the resolve to the conflict. These are not easy choices to make and it takes a multiple set of qualities like humility, fairness, intelligence, wisdom, honesty, amongst others, to make what has to be a split-second decision at times. Integrity is by far the most important ingredient  to the mix of a great leader. The ability to follow through on what you want your company and its employees to stand for rest solely on the inner and outer makings of the CEO and their self-discipline. As a musician, I have 23 years of experience, the highlight of my musicianship being landing a role in the 2014 James Brown biopic Get on Up.  This experience gave me the  opportunity to exhibit, develop the work ethic it takes to incorporate live music with film. As a DJ, I have set the perfect mood for many occasions such as weddings, reunions, concerts, pageants and club events. According to Maxwell, the definition of leadership is influence (Maxwell , 1993). As my role as a DJ I have influenced and created two professional DJ’s , a MC, and a club promoter with whom I still work with today as part of Mad Flavas.
